Dos Equis Lager

In 1884, a German brewer named Wilhelm Hasse emigrated from his homeland and established the Moctezuma brewery in Veracruz, Mexico. In 1897, Hasse blended his brewing heritage with the spirit of Mexican tradition to create Dos Equis. Dos Equis (pronounced Dohs-Eh-Keys) translates in English as “two-x’s”. The beer was originally named “Siglio XX” – 20th century – to signify the approaching millennium. Dos Equis carries the distinctive “XX”, symbolizing a celebration of the last century, its revolutionary vision and honoring the new millennium.
