From the Western Isles, Juras only malt is a thing of beauty, a smooth, lightly smokey dram that is a lovely introduction to the whiskies of the Scottish Islands. Almost Highland in style with a light, well matured palate, a pleasant oily nuttiness and lingering floral notes. Produced from water from Loch ABhaile Mhargaidh (Market Loch) and ground malted barley. The water is not peaty as the loch is high in the hills and the malt used is only lightly peated. The wort ferments in stainless steel washbacks and the wash is distilled twice in pot stills to produce spirit. High necks on the stills give a light spirit. The whisky gains a little weight and richness by being matured in a mixture of American oak and Sherry casks.
